Melody Arcega Sobrepeña-Gutierrez better known as Mhel, is a Filipino, married to a Hispanic American, Joseph Gutierrez. Mhel is an athlete, a badminton and volleyball player from Manila, Philippines. She is also a youth leader, worship leader and a musician in a local church of Jesus Is Alive Community - Monumento Zone. She was born October 16 to Iluminado Samson Sobrepeña Jr. and Mapalda Arcega Sobrepeña. Her father is from Batangas and her mother is from Pangasinan.
Mhel is the third and only girl of five children: Christian Sobrepeña and Christopher Sobrepeña (twins), Richard Sobrepeña and Francis Sobrepeña. So far, she has two nieces, Ma. Iris Sofia and Melodia Gabriella and six nephews Kier Christian, Rainard Chadrick, Ivan Gabriel, Franz Gabriel, Kian Raphael and Elyja Eris.
She was born and raised in Manila and currently residing in Miami, Florida, USA. She and her siblings have a very close relationship. They love visiting their relatives in Dasmarinas, Cavite during vacation. They have a clan of twins running in their family, so she might have twins too (hopefully).
She has a very close kinship with her family and that is one of the reasons why it's been hard for her to adjust living abroad. Homesickness has been her great adversary.
Mhel is very unique in so many ways. She loves music. She can sing and play guitar at the same time. She made her first composition entitled "Reason" under Involving Generation album by Refined. Mhel is such a very friendly and extremely sports-minded person. She made a lot of friends when she was in a varsity team at the University of the East. She used to compete with other universities during UAAP season. She also likes trying new different things. A friend named her "jack of all trades". One of her passions is to make people laugh, it brings joy to her heart. Laughter is like a music to her ears. She hates seeing people crying or feeling sad, hence she will try her best to make them smile even if she will look stupid, but she doesn't care at all.
Writing is one of her frustrations, but she still wants to give it a shot. She remembered a very inspirational video of a guy who is crippled. He said, "Even if I fall a 100 times, I will rise up a 100 times in every way I can 'till I reach my goal". Then she realized, she may not be one of the famous writers but one thing is for sure, she can use her hand to write and become a writer in her own special way. This blog can be considered as writing, right? Besides, not bad at all for a beginner. She also composed a couple of gospel songs for their church too...hmm good job!
The Church and her brethren brought a great impact in her life. She have learned a lot from them, most especially the "youth ministry". She felt so blessed and loved. The youth used to call her "mommy mhel" or "lola mhel". She was inspired by her co-leaders especially Stephen and his wife Jennie-lin.
Thank you so much for visiting Mhel's blog. I hope you will keep on following her and be inspired. Always be grateful to the Lord, and give Him glory in everything that we do.
God bless po sa inyong lahat.
